Mr. David Caccamo, Headmaster

Mr. Caccamo has a BS from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Economics from North Carolina State University.  He was an Assistant Professor of Business and Economics at Peace College in Raleigh, NC, and was formerly headmaster for another private classics-based high school.
 
Mrs. Jane Alexander, Assistant Headmaster

Mrs. Alexander is a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, where she taught writing and literature courses prior to joining the RLS faculty; she holds the Bachelor of Arts from the U.S. Naval Academy and was a naval officer for eight years prior to starting her doctoral work at UNC. She teaches Western Canon and AP British Literature.

 
 

Mrs. Marie Taylor, Middle School Principal,
Director, Writing Program

Mrs. Taylor holds the Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Cornell University. She has traveled widely and became a specialist in middle school curriculum through home schooling her six children through the middle school grades and personal continuing education.  Her interests include art, drama, and film.
 

Mr. Ryan Seeger, Department Chair,
Classics and History, Director of Discipline

Mr. Seeger has a
Master of Arts in Latin from the University of Georgia and teaches the full spectrum of classics courses at RLS. He worked at Camp Sea Gull for Boys in Arapahoe, NC for ten years as a counselor and administrator.

 
Dr. Linda Purnell, Registrar, College Counselor,
Department Chair, Mathematics and Science

Dr. Purnell graduated with honors with a double major in Chemistry and Mathematics from Meredith College. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.  Dr. Purnell teaches Physical Science, Math III (Algebra 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry) Advanced Mathematics and AP Chemistry.
 
Dr. Clark Horton

Dr. Horton earned his B.S. in Mathematics with a Physics minor and his M.S. in Mathematics, both from North Carolina State University.  He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Indiana University, where he specialized in differential geometry.  Dr. Horton has taught at North Carolina State University, Indiana University, and West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
 
Mr. Bernardo Niño

Mr. Niño has recently completed the Master of Science in Entomology at North Carolina State University. He has previously been a teacher/counselor for SmartCamp. He teaches Algebra I / Geometry, Scientific Processes of Life (6), Earth Science (7), and Biology.
 
 

Mrs. Denise Cerniglia - dcerniglia@raleighlatin.org

Mrs. Cerniglia holds the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Anthropology from North Carolina State University, and has danced professionally and taught dance for 14 years before joining the RLS faculty. She teaches geography and World and American history in the middle school, and Western Civilization and AP U. S. History in the high school.
 
 

Mr. Jorge Esguerra

Mr. Esguerra was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He held numerous positions in industry, completing his career as the President and General Manager for North American Operations for AVIANCA Airlines.  Mr. Esguerra teaches Spanish and Bible studies.
 

Mrs. Karen Garmany - Math

Mrs. Garmany earned the Bachelor of Science (Marketing) from the University of Maryland. She teaches middle school mathematics (Pre-Algebra and Sixth Grade Math Lab).
 

 
  Mr. Robert Garmany

Mr. Garmany holds the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (minor in French) from the University of Maryland. He teaches French and coaches tennis.
 
 

Mrs. Maria McGee -

Ms. McGee holds the Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Marketing from Florida International University.  Mrs. McGee was raised in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the United States as a college student.  She teaches Spanish.

Mrs. Smith received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from North Carolina State University, where she was a noted instructor of composition and literature; she holds the Bachelor of Arts from Grove City College. She teaches middle school grammar, 8th and 11th grade American literature, and AP Rhetoric/Senior Thesis and various electives.
 
  Mrs. Lisa Wilbourne - lisawilbourne@raleighlatin.org

Mrs. Wilbourne hold the Master of Arts in Latin from the University of Iowa, and the Bachelor of Arts in Latin and Philosophy from Eastern Carolina University. She teaches Latin and philosophy in both middle school and high school, and will teach Greek and other classical studies courses in future years.
